They will be looking for input on the actual mural. Volunteers from the club and community are working to plan and implement something like the wall art across from the Magrath Public Library. Magrath LIons Mural Project Sep 2012 First it was whitish, then they scraped and washed and taped and scraped. Now they have gone and primed and undercoated. The volunteers with the Magrath Lions Club have started on a project they hope will benefit the town. The wall itself is 100 feet long and 18-27 feet high. Today (Sat 29 Sep) they put on a first coat .. a light blue to go under the mural.

Many residents at the local Good Samaritans facility here in Magrath were surprised to learn that the contract for provision of weekly medications previously held by the Magrath Pharmacy (for the past 3 years) is now going to London Drugs out of Lethbridge (for the next 3 years). As a member of the Magrath Chamber, I am somewhat saddened at this turn of events. The Magrath Pharmacy provides professional and prompt service and has deep roots here in our community. They are uniquely positioned to provide quick (and often multiple) deliveries and have served our community well for many years.
This decision seems to me to be short sighted and arbitrary and based on a mistaken presumption that a 'big city' pharmacy will some how be able to provide services that cannot be provided locally. Unlikely. Medication prices and fees are set out by Blue Cross and there has to be additional costs in moving product several times each week between Lethbridge and Magrath. Regardless, it is also interesting to me that Magrath is home to not just the Magrath Pharmacy, but many (7 or more) Pharmacists who reside here and own and operate dispensaries in the surrounding area and who were not also considered. If this facility refuses to support local businesses, what incentive do the residents of Magrath have in responding to their requests for support (in financial and volunteer services) from us? Did I mention that the Kids Show looked great. Kudos to Melissa Olson and Lots of Knots!
How is the Town of Magrath Online Business Directory information generated and maintained?28/9/2012 Item of interest for Chamber members: How is the Town of Magrath Online Business Directory information generated and maintained? Is the Business Directory based on Business Licences with the Town of Magrath exclusively or can others be listed? Is it added automatically or just by request? Are there cross licence agreements with other towns (i.e. if I have a licence here do I need one there e.g. in Raymond)? If a salesman comes to my door wanting to sell me something, how do I know if they are licensed here? Do they get some kind of paperwork from the town or do they just need a license somewhere? Any insight you can provide would be of interest to the Chamber members. Thanks again.

Business Licenses are reciprocal for the following towns: Nobleford, Raymond, Stirling, Barons, Coalhurst, Coaldale, Monarch, Picture Butte, Magrath |
