This decision seems to me to be short sighted and arbitrary and based on a mistaken presumption that a 'big city' pharmacy will some how be able to provide services that cannot be provided locally. Unlikely. Medication prices and fees are set out by Blue Cross and there has to be additional costs in moving product several times each week between Lethbridge and Magrath. Regardless, it is also interesting to me that Magrath is home to not just the Magrath Pharmacy, but many (7 or more) Pharmacists who reside here and own and operate dispensaries in the surrounding area and who were not also considered.
If this facility refuses to support local businesses, what incentive do the residents of Magrath have in responding to their requests for support (in financial and volunteer services) from us?
