The Hometown Christmas Gift Basket draws were won by (1) Valerie Papworth, (2) Sharon Spackman, and (3) Shari Hieburt and 'Judge' Devar Dahl selected (1) Roosters, (2) Magrath Pharmacy for best Window DIsplays and in the battle of the banks .. a tie. Congratulations to all.
Hometown Christmas has a life of it's own. Several independent events occurred in conjunction with our own efforts - Nativity display at Library, Display at the Museum, the Seniors Craft Sale, Lions Club Facepainting, a Book Signing, etc. These events added to the overall success of the evening which pretty much 'ran itself'. We received great support from the town in the events we planned - Councilman Sam Johnston (planning/graphics), Sam Yamamoto and the Magrath School marching band members (performance), Mayor Barnett, Santa, Tim Sabey (for inviting Santa), Wes Murphy (big red button), Mellissa Olson (table bookings), Mark Passey and son Derrick (hayrides), Magrath Emergency Services (hotdogs/bonfire), Magrath students (decorating/carolling), Devar Dahl (Window Display Judge), SASH helpers (treat bag prep) and our local Crafter Mall host locations (ATB, COOP, FCSS, 1stChoice, SASH), the town staff (road prep and decorating), from Roosters (donated hotdog supplies), Keyline (design/printing/advertising) and financial support from all our local sponsors. Thank you to all!
The Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Town of Magrath will organize the Magrath Hometown Christmas event this year on Thu 2 Dec 2010 6-9 pm. See hometown-christmas-2010.pdf
We hope to continue in the same tradition with a fun community event that supports our local merchants, who are encouraged to stay open late with pre-Christmas sales and participate in this annual community event. Santa is scheduled to visit with the kiddies at Town Hall, and tables are available for a nominal fee at venues along main street (SASH, Co-op, ATB, 1st Choice call Mellissa 8-3525). We hope the weather cooperates with us again this year. See you all there!
