Magrath and District Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting Oct 14, 2010 at 7pm at Roosters

- Call to order Presiding Chamber President Jay Mackenzie 7:15pm
- Minutes of last board and general meetings read and approved.
- Jay (Roosters) reported on latest requirements for recognition as a society - 21 day notice, new name search, minor revisions to bylaws.
- Tom (Town of Magrath) will investigate information available re Badlands Tourist Association. Would like to present town council ideas for future developments at a later meeting. Hometown Christmas report on work done to date: C Gast booked as Santa, downtown business sponsors ($20 each) and display tables ($20) to cover expenses, tables available from town (locations at ATB, 1st Choice, SASH, Seniors Center). Roger (SSDirect) was asked to head the Chamber committee for this event with help from Duane/Carma (Keyline), Ross.
- Jay thanked Warren and Rhoda for work on Chamber Float (24 Jul) and for logo and banner. Their registration fee in kind for official banner and use of logos. Approved. Warren (Imagination Station) needs copy of new member forms and noted his phone number changes. Roger will update member listing on webpage. Form should be also be available online.
- Roger to write thankyou letters to Lance (Surex) and Wes (Murphy) for assistance at the All Candidates forum.
- Ross (Canadian Security Systems) reported initial plans for Spring Trade Show. Hopes to attract up to 100 tables at $50 each (price to be determined - chamber members may be offered lower rates).
- Jay discussed need for Shop Local Initiative Bedroom-town vs Bustle-town outlining the many benefits to town and residents in supporting local businesses. He has approached Shannon Sabey (CFP) to help develop and present to local groups: town council, chamber members, at schools and general public. Roger suggested may wish to capture presentation on video.
- Duane noted looking for chamber logo for chamber members advertising in his 2011 Business Directory.
