Magrath Chamber of Commerce Silent Auction in support of Magrath Trail Systems
Join us at the ATB Foyer July 18-22 and at the Magrath School Auditorium Jul 23 during the Magrath Days Celebration! Silent Auction items can be bid on up to 7pm on the 23rd. See you there!
Donation Request Letter follows:
Magrath is in the process of expanding their existing trails for a number of reasons. Over the past year, the people of Magrath have experienced tragedy and heartache at the loss of one of their own. Last fall a local jogger was struck by a vehicle and killed. Since then, the long-range plans for expanding the trail system have become a priority for numerous residents and for Town Council as joggers and walkers continue to use the roads because there is no other place to go. Creating extensive off road trails would allow a safer place for these people to exercise.
Besides safety reasons for expanding the trail system, it is also recognized that our creek valley is a gem that is the envy of most southern Alberta rural communities and a haven for wildlife. We would like to make that area more accessible to all residents and visitors, despite age or disability. Plans are to pave the existing trail as well as expand into new areas.
All of this takes money. The first fundraiser is sponsored by The Magrath & District Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Town of Magrath Celebration Committee. We are organizing a silent auction to be held the week ending July 23, 2011 during the town celebrations. This money will be ear marked for signage and to improve access to the trails.
We would appreciate your consideration of a donation to our Silent Auction for this worthy cause. Silent Auction items or cash donations can be dropped off at Roosters Country Market Place or Keyline Publishing. Please contact Duane Thomson at 403-759-1000 or Jay Mackenzie at 403-758-3535.
Sincerely, Magrath Chamber of Commerce
